Eric

Eric Daniel Metzgar is an Emmy-nominated director based in Brooklyn, New York, where he owns and operates Merigold Moving Pictures.

In 2006, he completed his first documentary feature-length film, The Chances of the World Changing (which he directed, produced, shot and edited). The film was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and broadcast nationally as part of PBS’s POV series in 2007. It toured the international film festival circuit, winning several awards.

Metzgar’s second documentary, Life. Support. Music., (which he directed, produced, shot and edited) was broadcast nationally on PBS’s POV series in 2009 after traveling the festival circuit and winning several awards.

Reporter, Metzgar’s most recent film (which he directed, shot and edited), premiered in competition at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and aired on HBO in February 2010. It was nominated for a 2011 Emmy Award and the International Human Rights Film Award, presented by Cinema for Peace.

Metzgar’s short film, Beholder, created for the 2008 International Documentary Challenge, won the “Best Original Vision Award,” as well as “Best Writing” and “Best Use of First Person Genre.”                                                          

In 2010, Metzgar edited and executive produced Give Up Tomorrow, a feature-length documentary film that won the Audience Choice Award at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival and the Sheffield Film Festival.

Metzgar is also an award-winning cinematographer and has shot for several Oscar-nominated directors. He also directs music videos.
